Alaska’s Senior Senator to Showcase Arctic Nation Needs, Coast Guard Presence

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Senate Homeland Security Appropriations subcommittee today announced that – at Senator Lisa Murkowski’s request – it will hold a field hearing in Kodiak, Alaska.  Next Monday’s hearing will focus on the nation’s need for a robust United States Coast Guard presence in Alaska as the nation begins to pursue expanding opportunities in northern waters.

Senator Murkowski and Chairman of the Homeland Security Appropriations subcommittee Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) will receive testimony from United States Coast Guard Admiral Papp and several Alaskan experts from academia and industry.

Where: Hangar Number 3, U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak, Kodiak, AK

When:  Monday, August 6th, 9:30am

Media availabilities will be held immediately following the event on site, Monday morning. An Anchorage media event will be held around 7pm Monday evening, when the group returns from Kodiak.
