Murkowski Fills Appropriations, Transportation Job Position

Soldotna-Raised Allison Nyholm Joins Capitol Hill Team

WASHINGTON, DC — Senator Lisa Murkowski is welcoming Allison Nyholm to her legislative team in Washington, D.C, where Nyholm will focus on appropriations, transportation and aviation matters – particularly those unique to Alaska’s skies. Raised in Soldotna, Nyholm joins Senator Murkowski’s office after working on Alaska-specific policies for the better part of a decade, including 5 years for the State of Alaska as the Associate Director for the Office of the Governor in Washington, D.C. – where she directed the state’s federal appropriations process.

“Allison has been intricately involved with many of the vital issues Alaskans focus on every day – including leveraging available resources to the fullest advantage for our state, and having her on-board will be a tremendous addition to my office,” said Senator Murkowski. “I am encouraged to have the support and dedication of such a hard-working staff, as every state must be innovative and creative to do more with less.”

Nyholm will serve as Senator Murkowski’s Legislative Assistant responsible for appropriations, surface transportation, aviation and water project infrastructure. She is a graduate of the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau, and received her Master’s in Public Policy and Master’s in Business Administration from the George Washington University and University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, respectively.

Nyholm is also an FAA certified private pilot.
