Vice Chairman Murkowski opening statement and questions at SCIA public safety roundtable

During a Senate Committee on Indian Affairs (SCIA) roundtable on “Public Safety in Native Communities,” Senator Murkowski called for implementation of VAWA 2022 and MMIW federal legislation. A panel formed of federal officials, tribal leaders, and advocates discussed how they are working together to strengthen public safety and justice in vulnerable Native communities. Vice Chairman Murkowski welcomed and thanked Alaska Native and Senior Legal Policy Director, Alex Cleghorn, from the Alaska Native Justice Center for his work to help combat this public safety crisis.
