Murkowski Promotes from Within to Boost Alaska-DC Coordination

Senator Shifts Michael Pawlowski to Deputy Chief of Staff

Senator Lisa Murkowski today announced that Michael Pawlowski will serve as Deputy Chief of Staff for Coordination of Alaska and Washington, D.C. Affairs beginning August 3, 2015.  A lifelong Alaskan, Pawlowski will add to the efforts of the Murkowski team to effectively respond to immediate and long-term concerns of Alaska residents.  He will join Kate Williams, who serves as Deputy Chief of Staff coordinating Murkowski’s legislative priorities.

“Michael Pawlowski has a firm grasp of the impact of federal policies in Alaska and the challenges confronting Alaskans and their communities,” said Murkowski.  “With his experience working at both the state and federal level on a broad range of issues affecting Alaskans, he will liaison between Alaska and Washington, D.C. to help enhance coordination between what is going on at home and efforts in the nation’s capital.”

Pawlowski joins Senator Murkowski’s personal office after spending six months working as senior energy policy advisor in the Senate Energy Committee.  A graduate of Alaska Pacific University, Pawlowski has also worked for the Alaska Permanent Capital Management Company, the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority, the Alaska State Legislature and as the Deputy Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Revenue.
