Murkowski Statement on New FERC Chairman

U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, today issued the following statement after the swearing-in of Kevin McIntyre to begin a five-year term on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), starting today as the Commission’s chairman.

“I’m pleased to learn that Mr. McIntyre was sworn in this morning, bringing FERC to a full complement of Commissioners for the first time since 2015. For more than two years, I have been working toward the day when FERC would once again have a full bench. We worked hard to restore FERC’s quorum in August, and I thank Commissioner Chatterjee for chairing the Commission until today.

“I look forward to Chairman McIntyre’s leadership and to continuing to work with all of the Commissioners. My hope is that, after due consideration of the record, FERC will concentrate its full capacity on deciding promptly the many important proceedings on its docket. Coming from his decades of careful practice before the agency, I expect Chairman McIntyre will lead his colleagues to well-reasoned decisions that are effective to keep America’s energy networks reliable and affordable.”

Murkowski is chairman of the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
