Murkowski Thanks Second Session Summer Interns

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, today thanked her second group of summer interns for their service in her Washington, D.C., office. These interns spent part of the summer observing both the operations of a fast-paced Senate office and the legislative process from an up-close view.

For the second session, Murkowski welcomed Gizelle Baylon, Anchorage; Tanner Berube, Anchorage; Courtney Enright, Ketchikan; Ryan Gildersleeve, Palmer; Anna Hahn, Nome; Briana Murphy, Wasilla; Nicholas Parker, Juneau; Joseph Russo, Fairbanks and Kelly Tomera of Anchorage.

“Each summer, interns from back home bring their energy and enthusiasm to Washington and are able to witness my work here in the Senate first hand,” Murkowski said. “I thank these young Alaskans for their service to our state and wish them the very best as they return to Alaska.”

Murkowski’s summer interns are recent high school graduates who assist in the day-to-day clerical and administrative tasks within the office such as directing mail and assisting staff with research projects. Each day, two interns “shadow” Senator Murkowski in her daily work around the Capitol in order to obtain a first-hand view of the Senate in action.
