Murkowski Votes for Boehner Budget Plan

Senator Frustrated That Competing Plans Aren’t Designed to Pass

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Lisa Murkowski tonight voted in favor of moving forward with Speaker John Boehner’s (R-OH) budget plan, issuing the following statement afterwards:

“I supported Speaker Boehner’s plan because it’s honest about the spending reductions we need. It’s a plan that makes dollar-for-dollar spending cuts to begin responsibly addressing our deficit over the long term.

“What’s most frustrating about our current process is that all we are demonstrating is that neither side has enough support for their plan.  Congress should not show our constituents and the world what we cannot accomplish; we should show what we can do.  We need to come together to find a true solution to the problems we face.

“We need to come together so that America can continue to honor its obligations, pay its debts and move forward down a sound fiscal path.”
