Senator Murkowski Welcomes New Chief Of Staff

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sen. Lisa Murkowski announced today she is promoting Legislative Director Edward Hild to become her new Chief of Staff, taking over the position previously held by Karen Knutson since 2007.

“Ed is an intelligent and shrewd staffer who has done a lot for Alaska in his first two years in my office,” Murkowski said.  “Promoting him will expand the ability of our entire staff to set an agenda of accomplishments for our state and the country.”

Hild served as Legislative Director since March of 2009, when he joined the Murkowski team. Prior to that, Hild worked for seven years in the same position for Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM) until the Senator’s 2008 retirement.  Hild has over a decade of experience in the U.S. Senate and a wide range of policy knowledge, from budgeting and appropriations issues to energy legislation.

“Beyond his wealth of knowledge,” Murkowski continued, “Ed has a deep understanding of what Western States are trying to accomplish – and the challenges we face, not least of which come from right here in Washington, DC.”

Hild holds a law degree from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, where he also served as Managing Editor of the John Marshall Law Review. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Ithaca College in New York.
